Empowering Through Life Skills
Our life skills program is designed to equip students with essential personal development skills that foster independence and self-reliance.
Student Acceptance
Students at The Learning Centre are accepted into the school on the basis of an educational assessment. The assessment is conducted by a practicing psychologist. An educational prescription is devised which is designed to alleviate the student's particular disability.
Academic System
The Learning Centre recognises that the students sent to us are usually students who are unable to function in the regular school system in any academic stream. In the regular school system, the learning disabled become frustrated and incensed at their treatment. We believe the learning disabled deserve to be treated well in keeping with their dignity as human beings.
Staff
The school staff comprises the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher/Class Teacher, 8 Class Teachers, 5 Skills Instructors, a Secretary and Auxiliary Worker. The staff are assisted by volunteers, coaches from the National Sports Council and Special Olympics Barbados.
TLC
The Learning Centre should not be looked upon as a refuge for children with learning disabilities. It is a school where they are taught and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Contact us now to make a better future for a child with a learning disability.
